PR Consultancy

I have experience of running a PR consultancy, an in-house PR department and now work as a freelance consultant.
If a project needs extra hands, I have an established network of photographers, designers, video producers and other PR people, which I can call upon.

The Conservation Foundation

David Shreeve and David Bellamy set up the Foundation in 1982 to provide a link between business and the environment. It does all kinds of interesting and unusual environmental projects including:
Tools Shed – recycled tools for schools and community gardens project which has been piloted with HMP Wandsworth and is now thriving in other prisons, with more waiting to come on board.  We work with all kinds of  horticultural organisations from the RHS to the Eden Project, as well as large and small garden centres. The schools and community gardens love their very special - and free - tools.

Gardening Against The Odds awards. In memory of the garden writer Elspeth Thompson, we run these awards with The Sunday Telegraph which honour unsung heroes who create beauty against the odds. The winners will receive their prizes next March in the Great Conservatory at Syon House.

The Great British Elm Experiment - just what it says. The project hopes to inspire a new generation and to unlock the mystery of why some elms survived Dutch elm disease when so many millions died.

Ulmus londinium - an elm programme for London which includes counting surviving elms and planting over 700 saplings in 2012 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and the Foundation's 30th anniversary.

London’s Green Corners Awards – celebrating the gardeners who make London a brighter and healthier place to live and improve the biodiversity. Here's year the (fully working) Green Corners allotment from Covent Garden’s Spring Renaissance which showed the joys of growing your own with a series of weekend events from beekeeping and foraging to storytelling and composting with David Bellamy.

Roots and Shoots

Roots and Shoots is a wonderful environmental and educational charity set up in Lambeth in 1982 by Linda Phillips, who still runs it now.

It provides vocational training in horticulture and retail to young people whose school years have been difficult and traumatic.  I was matched with Roots and Shoots through Media Trust in 2004 and since then have helped with PR and fundraising.

The Venkatraman Memorial Trust

My PR business partner Sylvia Holder set up the Venkat Trust in 2004 to provide education in the poor south Indian fishing village of Kovalam. She has been extraordinarily successful and is about to launch an appeal to build a secondary school. This picture shows some of the children sponsored through the Trust outside the Venkat Tuition Centre which was opened a couple of years ago.
